I work mostly from imagination, but sometimes a bit of reference helps a lot!

Have you visited my Etsy shop, Aunt Soup, lately, and found the new About page? If not, you’re in for a treat! There you’ll find a mini-feature of the inspirations and studio practices that go into my work, along with some photos and tasty tidbits about what makes this particular artist tell stories with pencil, paintbrush and paper…
Thanks so much for stopping by!

It looks great. It’s nice to see a WIP too. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, Linda…and happy new year and new dreams and aims to you!
I’m with Linda on this I love seeing WIPs and your storytelling is so visually magical!
Thanks, Indigene…yes, it’s always fascinating and enlightening to see the steps behind an artist’s finished painting: makes me appreciate how much skill and perseverance goes into a work of art, but also makes it seem–to me as an artist–like, yes, maybe I could do that too, someday…
How interesting… will have to go and check it out. Like this sneak peak of WIP
Thanks for stopping by, Sue…I wish you fascinating and productive art and life journeys in 2013!
Thank you, Susan! I’m always searching for creativity. Sometimes it seems to elude me. Your work is inspiring to someone who keeps getting pulled away from the magic of art.
I agree, it is SO easy to get distracted from our creativity, especially by the things that scream the loudest! I’m currently re-reading the classic “The War of Art: Break Through the Blocks and Win Your Inner Creative Battles” by Seven Pressfield, and he writes eloquently and to the point about our creative issues with Resistance, Procrastination and Avoidance. I highly recommend this little book! Thanks for your comment and appreciation!
