I am a California artist, illustrator and writer who really hopes to understand the Big Meaning of it all before my time here is up. Here I share my observations, musings and images related to that quest.
My paintings tell universal stories, and are inspired by the literature of humankind’s patterns: fairy tale, myth, and journeys of all types. This is the literature that has always expressed the questions, the wonder, the humor, the obstacles, and the deep similarities “between me and thee.”
With my pencil, paint and words, I aim for images and phrases that will match the feeling of a story, archetype or just the “word of the week.” This feels very much like dancing with a partner—one who patiently, invisibly, leads the way. Sometimes it’s a dance that moves easily and gracefully, sometimes not.
